Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den betting is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that highlights many comforts accompanying the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
